Ive recently started a contract with a large consulting company...its going badly for me..the boss keeps throwing his weight about and the work isn't what I expected and I'm struggling.
I am thinking about taking a new contract that is about 200 miles from home for a public agency. Normally I would expect to be able to write the cost of staying in a hotel, getting an evening meal off, cost of getting there etc against tax since its impossible to commute that sort of distance of a daily basis. Is this sort of thing going to be allowed under the new IR35 rules assuming that the contract is caught ?
Way back in 2004 my local tax office opened an enquiry into my 2001/2002 tax return, they updated my assessment and I paid it. All completed, or so I thought until a Follower Notice And APN turned up a week ago.
My Client has two sites that are around 30 miles apart.
