Expenses

Accomodation and Travel expenses
I am considering accepting a contract in Central London, but, live in Manchester.

Accomodation and Travel is likely to amount to £1000-£1500pm. My rate will cover this without much problem (approx £8000pm) however I am concerned about reclaiming my expenses before NI & Tax and the IR35 5% rule.

I don't want to open a Limited Company as I have been down that route in the past and for this one off contract (of 6 mths to a year) I don't want the hassle.

I am considering Composite or Umbrella companies.

Where will I stand on reclaiming accomodation and travel expenses. Are certain types of travel or accomodation more acceptable to the IR. say b&b or hotels vs lodgings or temporary let (and associated overheads such as Council Tax, Utility Bills and Telephone). Car mileage vs Planes and Trains etc.

It is my intention to travel outbound Monday Mornings and return Friday Evenings.
