Statement regarding CFT Group insurance services
by The Editor at 17:01 01/11/01 (Shout99)
Press Release from Lloyd's: Following investigations by the City of London Police and Lloyd's of London, Lloyd's is issuing a warning to all persons and companies holding insurance policies issued by CFT Group Insurance Services (CFT), which is believed to have ceased trading.
The City of London Police and Lloyd's are concerned that a number of commercial insurance policies naming Lloyd's are now known to have been sold by CFT without cover having been arranged. These policies include cover for professional indemnity, employers' liability and public liability and have been sold predominately via the internet to sole traders (including IT contractors) and small-to-medium sized businesses in the UK.

This matter is now the subject of an investigation by the Serious Fraud Office who, with the City of London Police and Lloyd's, seek information from anyone who believes they may have purchased one of these policies. All policies bear the names CFT or CFT Group Insurance Services. Anyone who believes they have a CFT policy should contact Lloyd's Regulatory Division in writing.

Lloyd's is advising persons and companies holding policies bearing the CFT name to take appropriate action to protect their interests. This may include purchasing alternative cover.

Anyone with an affected policy should contact Lloyd's immediately. They should do so by writing to:

John Baker
Compliance Officer
Lloyd's of London
One Lime Street
London EC3M 7HA

E-mail: regulatoryliaison@lloyds.com
Fax: 020-7327 5988
Freephone: 0800-917 5971 (verification helpline)

Lloyd's staff will require full details of the policy, its date of issue and method of purchase.
