The most important problems facing freelancers - Survey
by Andy White at 09:52 27/02/03 (Political News)
To help prioritise the presentation at the seminar in the House of Commons on Tuesday 4th March I would be grateful if freelancers could complete the simple survey on the www.shout99.com home page (You need to be logged in vote)
Please consider and choose the most important problem facing your business as a freelancer. I have provided some examples against each

  • Out of work.
    Out of contract

  • Lack of sales prospects
coming close to the end of a contract and no sign of further sales. Little activity from Agents, unable to bid for work as too small, too complex

  • Low rates
Low rates/sales are making it uneconomic to continue

  • Regulation
The hassles of trying to understand IR35, filling in VAT forms, the duties of running a company.

  • Taxation
The burden of taxation (not the form filling or contract reviews- that would be Regulation)

  • Agents
Unable to sell you in effectively, low service levels, restrictive clauses.

  • Competition
Competition from larger business such as - Intra Company Transfers ICT – Foreign companies bringing in their own employees and/or body shops with Fast Track Visa workers. FTV.

  • Finance
Lack of funds to invest in training, equipment etc

Having thought through your choice of the most important problem facing your business, please now complete the survey.

The survey form will be visible on the left hand side of this article. You need to be logged in to complete. The results are immediately visible, once you have voted

I would be grateful if you could complete this by close of business on Monday 3rd March

Many thanks

------
Andy White
