Actinium wins Sunday Times top award
by Susie Hughes at 11:11 05/12/06 (News from Partners)
Actinium, a company which provides bespoke solutions for contractors and small business owners has been awarded the top position in the prestigious, Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100.
Until a couple of years ago, Actinium prided itself on being one of the best kept secrets in the contracting world. It offered a service for
higher earning contractors and freelancers looking after all their legal and tax affairs. Actinium began working with Shout99 to offer its services to readers two years ago.

The company initially grew from strength to strength by word of mouth and personal recommendations from satisfied customers – and has now been recognised by the Sunday Times as the UK’s fastest growing business.

This was based on a rise in turnover from £728,000 in 2002 to £40.745 million in 2005 - an annual sales growth of 282.45 per cent.

Actinium was founded in 2001 with an aim to develop a business which gave the small business owners and freelancers efficient and
effective legal and tax support.

Actinium is specifically tailored for the higher-earning end of the contractor market. Its founders believed in building and developing long-term relationships with clients, employees and recruitment agencies. It now provides services to over 500 clients in a range of fields including IT, finance, banking, and also works directly with a number of recruitment agencies and end clients.

Crawford Temple, Chief Operating Officer of Actinium: said: ”We have built our business on a reputation for personal service and attention to detail, which has resulted in our business growing significantly through positive word of mouth recommendations and preferred supplier arrangements.

“The freelancer market has been on a roller-coaster for many years. Our aim is to take the hassle away from contractors, so they can concentrate on what they do best - providing expert skills and knowledge to their client and let us worry about the rest. We have in-house teams of accountants and lawyers who oversee such issues as contract reviews, IR35 status checks, tax implications, company structure and remuneration.

“To have received this award is a testimony to our philosophy of personal service and getting it right.”

The contractor market has evolved considerably over the years and Actinium has aimed to keep pace with developments and changes in market conditions and the external forces which influence them. This enabled them to grow faster than any other company in the UK and to deal with a wider audience of contractors while aiming to provide the same level of quality service.

Sunday Times
The Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 ranks Britain's 100 private companies with the fastest growth sales over the past three years. It is the tenth anniversary of the awards. This year's list was published in the Sunday Times on December 3, 2006.
