Closing company

It is almost a year since I paid my accountant to close my Ltd company
and finished trading, closed out VAT etc. They seem to be dragging their feet and sometimes take weeks to reply.
Since both are registered in Scotland don't know if this makes it worse. I tried to change accountants several years ago, but being in Scotland and my business work in England it was complicated. I would never register a company in Scotland again.

Can I close the company myself my ex-MSC
accountant is hopeless. --
