Newsletter 450: Budget questions travel and subsistence
by Newsletter Editor at 10:15 26/03/15 ( Shout99 Newsletter)
It was generally expected that the Budget would, in some way, tackle the tax reliefs on travel and subsistence expenses of contractors, particularly those engaged through umbrella organisations.
And of course, it did. But how it will achieve its objective and who might be caught in the cross-fire, is still the big unknown.

The spectre of IR35 arose when the term 'supervision, direction and control' was used to categorise those who could no longer be entitled to the relief, but those who are 'genuinely self-employed' (another IR35 ghost) should be protected.
