Unexpected Questions from Agent
by ThePower at 14:05 13/08/15 (Letters from Freelancers)
An agent has asked me some unexpected questions
I have just come off the phone to an agent and been left slightly puzzled by some of the questions I have been asked.

Firstly she asked me where I lived (despite it being on the email by which I applied for the contract). When I told her, she asked which station "that came into" (she meant London terminus). I told her I had a choice, it depended where I was going and could she be more specific in this instance. She wouldn't give me any clues but asked me how long the train took. When I replied that surely this was my business and my issue to deal with she said not so and that one of her clients had rejected an application from a candidate judged to be living too far away!

Secondly she asked why my CV did not go back 10 years. I replied that conventional wisdom is only to list your most recent and relevant experience. She countered that 10 years is an "industry standard". Really? I have never heard this before - am I wide of the mark here?

Is this a misunderstanding due to a very poor agent or a very naïve applicant?
