Doing the Business with Labour
by PhilipRoss at 17:47 08/09/03 (Political News)
At this year's Labour Party Conference Shout99 is sponsoring the leading small business event on the fringe circuit. The meeting being held by the Labour Small Business Forum is entitled ‘Is Labour the Party of and for small business?’. The line up at the event will be :-
  • Nigel Griffiths MP – Small Business Minister DTI

  • John Healey MP – Economic Secretary to the Treasury

  • Kerry Pollard MP – Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Small Business Group
The event will be chaired by Philip Ross founder of the Labour Small Business Forum. He was previously public affairs consultant with Susie Hughes Associates, who campaigned successfully on fast track visas last year. Philip was also the PCG’s first external affairs director.

Philip said: ‘The Labour Small Business Forum is a network of Labour party members who own and run small businesses, or work as self-employed or as freelancers. We believe that the Government can be both pro-business and pro-fairness at the same time.”

He added : “The Ministers present represent the major Government departments – the DTi and the Treasury – Kerry Pollard provides input from backbench MP’s and they will be putting the case as to why Labour is the party of small business.

"We are grateful to Shout99.com for sponsoring this event for us.”

The meeting is on Monday 29th September 17:30 till 18:30 at the Marsham Court Hotel.

The event is targeted at party members and delegates and will cover all issues facing small business, including those of freelancers.
