Qdos TLC35 - The Simple Facts
by Qdos Consulting at 09:45 27/01/05 (News from Partners)
Tax Liability Cover (TLC35) for freelancers is offered by Qdos Consulting Limited and is proving a great success. To help you to decide whether TLC35 is right for you we list below the simple facts about TLC35
  • TLC35 is a fully underwritten insurance policy and not simply a guarantee.

  • In the event of a claim TLC35 will pay for:

    • Fees for any Inland Revenue enquiry (including PAYE compliance review) or Customs & Excise dispute.
    • Tax/NIC paid to the Inland Revenue in respect of being deemed caught by the Inland Revenue under IR35.
    • Interest
    • Penalties

  • Contracts must be deemed eligible by Qdos in order to qualify for TLC35.

  • Up to three contracts and their associated working practices will be assessed for eligibility for TLC35 at a cost of £25 plus VAT (by way of Freelance Club Membership).

  • Further contracts will be risk assessed for a cost of £25 plus VAT each.

  • Full contract reviews are available separately for £75 plus VAT (click here) - but this is not a requirement for TLC35.

  • TLC35 lasts for one year from purchase.  It can be renewed annually thereafter.

  • TLC35 covers any enquiry or dispute that commences in the year.

  • Any contract that has been risk assessed will be covered, even if the contract period was prior to the period of cover.

  • Any enquiry or dispute that commences after cover has expired (i.e. you did not renew) will not be covered.

  • New contracts engaged during the period can be assessed for eligibility and included.

  • Other benefits given to TLC35 holders are:

    • Fees for any Inland Revenue enquiry (including PAYE compliance review) or Customs & Excise dispute covers all contracts, not just those deemed eligible by Qdos for TLC35.
    • Unlimited telephone and e-mail access to Qdos taxation, employment and health & safety specialists.
    • Client tracking service
    • Newsletters
    • Updates on matters that affect freelancers
    • Discounted consultancy rates

  • Where contractors are not deemed eligible for TLC35 they can purchase Freelancer Tax Protection for £99 including Insurance Premium Tax (IPT).  This includes all of the above with the exception of Tax, Interest and Penalties.
