Seminars for the construction industry
by The Editor at 12:37 29/02/08 (News from Partners)
Qdos Consulting is holding Construction Industry Seminars for contractors and accountants in London, Birmingham and Edinburgh.
Why?
HMRC is still making, what at first may sound like, routine PAYE Employer Compliance Reviews to look at wages, NIC, expenses and benefits etc. However this 'routine' visit turns into an in depth questioning regarding sub-contractor workforce. If you have not sought advice prior to this visit you may find that following this visit, and one to your sub-contractors, HMRC have decided that your workers are really your employees. Not only that but that they have been for the last six years and that you now owe employees and employers NIC plus interest and penalties. Further more you now have to put all the CIS4 sub-contractors on to PAYE and pay over 23.8 per cent NIC, holiday pay, sick pay and pay them for down time.

What is covered in the seminar?

  • “The story so far ...”
  • Background
  • What you should do as a contractor or subcontractor
  • How does a worker know whether they should be employed or self employed
  • Reviewing your working practices
  • Assessing your exposure to any additional Tax and National Insurance
  • The latest from Budget 2008
