Rented flat v B&B while working away
by DavyMcK at 08:35 23/10/12 (Ask-Legal-Accounting)
What, if any, are the differences in the expenses allowable if i'm in a B&B or rent a flat while working away ?
I have worked away from home, both in the UK and abroad, for many years now and have always used B&B's or hotels but i now have a long term (18-20 month) contract in Aberdeen and am considering renting a flat.

I will be in Aberdeen Mon-Fri (4 nights) and home the other 3. Obviously the B&B/hotel route is pretty straight forward, receipt for accom and meals claimed each week but what about a flat ? Can i claim rent/council tax/gas/elec etc ? Can i still receipt/claim meals in the same manner ? What about household stuff for the flat ? cleaning etc ? Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Davy
