Taxman tweets and twitters for small businesses
by Susie Hughes at 14:54 25/02/13 (News on Business)
For the first time, the tax man has taken to Twitter to offer interactive support via Twitter to businesses with their tax affairs.
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is today (February 25) starting a week long question and answer session to give SMEs and those considering setting up a business the opportunity to ask tax-related questions.

HMRC says it will be on hand to offer help and support on a wide range of issues, including keeping records, VAT registration, National Insurance, starting up a limited company and PAYE Real Time Information.

David Gauke, Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, said: “Small businesses and start-ups are the life blood of the economy. HMRC is dedicated to reducing the burden on small businesses and making the tax system simpler, more efficient and fairer. This interactive week will offer support and help to new and growing businesses in an innovative way.“

To take part or ask a question, follow @HMRCgovuk on Twitter and use hashtag #biztaxhelp.
