The last few weeks have seen a considerable amount of pre-Budget activity by the tax man to demonstrate the scale and success of their clampdowns on tax cheats.

Two IT consultants are now sharing prison space with a barrister for offshore tax and VAT fraud respectively as a result of two of HMRC's targeted campaigns. HMRC also announced it will now turn its spotlight on those who evade capital gains tax from selling second homes.
