I've been asked to sign an internal declaration, along the lines of an NDA, and in the wording it says something along the lines of "whilst employed by project xyz, you will...".
I will not be allowed to work on the project unless I sign the declaration, so I asked about whether the wording could be amended. The reply was that the wording would remain unchanged but that they were happy for me to "hand amend" the document to state that I am not an employee and that I have been contracted to perform a specific task.
Would signing and hand amending be ok? If so, what kind of terms should I use, for instance should I just state that I'm not an employee and that my company has been contracted to perform xyz task? Or should I insist the form is amended? Or should I just sign it on the assumption that it is extremely unlikely that anyone is going to see the form outside of my client, given the nature of the project?
Any help or advice would be very welcome.
