Newsletter 455: Government consults on an IR35 Mark 2
by Newsletter Editor at 10:20 03/08/15 ( Shout99 Newsletter)
The Government has set out its proposals to fulfill its Budget commitment to make the controversial freelancer tax, IR35, 'more effective in protecting the Exchequer'.
In rhetoric which will be familiar to those contractors who were around when IR35 was introduced by the Labour Government more than 10 years ago, the Conservative Government talked about finding measures to protect the Exchequer; improve fairness in the system; and level the playing field between direct employees and 'those who work in a similar manner to direct employees but through their own limited companies'.

The Government is now consulting with interested parties on how to improve the effectiveness of IR35.
