Safe in New Labours hands.....!
by Andy White at 14:18 01/06/00 (Viewpoint)
Martin Spicer writes "The "loonies" are definitely running the asylum. Not only do we have the disjointed economic philosophy of 'New' (ha!) Labour of promoting the technology revolution in the UK whilst on the other hand crippling small knowledge based businesses by stifling growth and enterprise by the introduction and uncertainty of IR35 - but wish to bring the same lunatic policies to the NHS as well.

The NHS "Safe in New Labours hands" I seem to recall a quote from one of Tony's troupe of cronies is now recruiting nurses from China to fill vacancies in the UK !.

Hello - what are we doing here - did Chancellor Gordon Brown say last year that new labour was working to bring about full employment to this country - what tripe !

How can he expect to do this by importing cheap lower skilled labour - he's just undermining the skill-sets and job opportunities in this country. We in the technology sector have invested time and money to train ourselves in the skills that are needed to power this country to the forefront of the technological revolution - nurses and the majority of those in the NHS have been denied the same opportunities by shabby planning and investment in skills and salaries by governments of the day and now they get another kick in the groin because the government (NHS) would rather import nurses who do not speak the language, have the experience of working in a western environment or perhaps the same quality of training - than compensate our own nurses more to make their job more professional and worthwhile and therefore increase interest in the nursing profession.

I fear this is the beginning of what is to come of the government's "employment policy" - The Chancellors vision is fast evaporating - more will be spent on unemployment, more will be spent on supporting these "economic immigrants" who will doubt want to stay on in this country and have the taxpayer support them and their families who will no doubt come along for the ride too.

"New Labour - Same old stories" - or should I say "same old bull" "
