Advice sought: car hire
by minn at 10:39 13/10/09 (The Clubhouse)
My eldest son and his partner are tying the knot next weekend and are planning to go on honeymoon. They will be flying to Faro, Portugal and driving across the border to southern Spain.

But there's a problem.

One can drive but can't have a credit card (bad debts incurred in a previous relationship), the other has a credit card but can't drive.

The problem seems to be that the credit card must be in the driver's name.

My wife and daughter went together to Ibiza about three years ago and hired a car for the week. The younger drove the car, the elder paid on plastic.

So it appears the problem is not "he who drives, pays", but taking the car out of the country. (The obvious solution is park the car on the Spainish border and walk across to Ayamonte, but that didn't exactly receive a warm reception!)

Any suggestions welcome.

Pete

Francis Rossi (on the choice of "Status Quo" for the name of the band).
