Newsletter 479: Contractors fear Budget brings 'winter of discontent'
by Newsletter Editor at 10:15 16/11/17 ( Shout99 Newsletter)
While other groups prepare their 'wish-list' for the Chancellor's Autumn Budget of measures they would like to see introduced...top of contractors wish-list must be just to be left alone.
Rumours are circulating or 'kites are being flown' that the controversial public sector IR35 reforms will be extended to cover the private sector - potentially placing further administrative burdens on clients and calling into question contractors 'status' - all at the risk of making the contractor workforce less attractive.

Plus the recent report from the OTS calling for a reduction in the VAT threshold - all signal a potential 'winter of discontent'.

Ironically this comes at a time when otherwise things are looking up for the freelancer workforce with more clients relying on their skills and flexibility.

Shout99 is a free resources specialising in providing news, information and services for freelancers and small businesses. You can check us out on Shout99.

Full cover of issues in the Autumn Budget (November 22) affecting freelancers and expert analysis will also be available in the Political News section of Shout99 throughout next week.
