EDS forced to pay IR £2.5million in Financial Remedies
by Mark Roderick at 12:12 13/04/00 (News on Business)

After shout99.com yesterday pointed out that there may be work opportunities at Tesco to help the supermarket grow it’s Internet shopping business, we are delighted today to announce possible opportunities at both EDS and the Inland Revenue.

According to a story on accountingWEB large and possibly inept IT consultancy EDS has been forced to pay £2.5 million to the Inland Revenue after failing to meet performance targets no less than 100 times in the last five years. (That’s more than three failures every two months). EDS has a 10 year contract worth over £1bn.

Still with many highly skilled but independent contractors unsure of how to run their businesses – but certainly capable of working to performance targets, we felt that anyone considering a return to permie work may find that either of the two splendid organisations mentioned above may be interested in your skills.

Those of you staying as independents and looking to work to monthly targets, perhaps on fixed priced contracts, should not be afraid to promote your services if you can do better than one of the major players.
