In its latest annual survey of healthcare contractors, umbrella employment provider, giant group, found that the majority of respondents are expecting more opportunities in the NHS over the next year.
Having seen a drop in contract work in this specialism over the last 12 months, this rise is in line with the latest Government announcements of increased NHS spending, and will see further demand for skilled contractors.

“It would also appear that of all the sectors we work in, healthcare is one of the most confident. The latest figures show a shift in balance of preference between long term contract and higher per hour payment, suggesting contractors are becoming increasingly optimistic about opportunities.”
The results also showed a significant increase in the number of contractors working in private hospitals and clinics. Where only two per cent of respondents worked in this arena during July 2011 and June 2012, 11 per cent were during the following year. This is expected to rise further over the next 12 months to 14 per cent as more private hospitals look to maximise growth strategies and increase efficiency.
